  • Gentry families ruined economically before they even see him coming

Story

Lawrence wakes up in ancient Dyria as the magistrate of River County, a district so ruined by famine that his officials are already writing him off. He has no army, no grain, and no standing — only modern knowledge that looks like madness to everyone around him. His first move is eating pig feed in public to prove he will share any hardship his people endure.

From there he trades pickles and congee for loyalty, sees through Evan's quiet sabotage, and turns noodles and sausages into morale the county has not felt in years. When the "Satisfaction" system gives him a new kind of leverage, he starts redistributing supplies that the gentry have hoarded for generations. The families he ruins on the way are not the kind to forgive, and their retaliation is coming.
